Petronella applesauce and the cake brandy twins are happy when a circus in town sets up its tents. Lea and Luis quickly make friends with some circus children. They can finally see what goes on behind the scenes. In the circus, however, the twins noticed Spitzbartrix, who represents the sick ring director: He drives the little artists to too much training. When Lea and Luis overhear how he forces one of the children to perform a trapeze act without a safety device, the fun stops: Petronella has to help - and quickly!
